Facility and Safety Identification

Dec 18 2015

Manufacturing organization through 5S methodology

Posted by Don Bangert in Facility and Safety Identification

As 2015 is coming to an end it's a great time to start thinking about getting organized for 2016. It's a great time to begin sorting, organizing, cleaning, laying out a plan and a way to repeat the process toward better efficiency.

Even though most of us go through this tradition every spring without barely a second thought, our customers too have become more actively involved in this process that for Industry is called Lean Manufacturing & Maintenance–or 5S in simpler terms.

  • Sort
  • Straighten
  • Shine
  • Standardize
  • Sustain

This is a process designed to allow our customers to be more organized, efficient, safe and eliminate waste and therefore save money. We would find it quite difficult to travel to areas we have never been to in the past without road signs and other visual tools to help guide us on our way. The Lean 5S process does much the same in our customers facilities.

The current Brady Safety, Facility and Equipment Identification offer a snapshot of a few Lean ideas viewable below.
