Red Lion Reinvests in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

Posted by Mike Wojda in Networking

Over the past several years, we've seen many of our industrial component manufacturers revamp the communicative capabilities of their lines. This month, Red Lion reiterated their commitment to the industry shift by announcing a dedicated facility in St. Louis, the IIoT Innovation Center.

In a press release, Red Lion president Mike Granby said, “Our IIoT Innovation Center represents a significant investment, and delivers on our commitment to develop products and solutions uniquely suited to drive connectivity in industrial environments. We have been helping to enable the IIoT with cellular connectivity, protocol conversion and automation from before the concept even had a name. Red Lion has been connecting devices and moving data for years. We are ideally positioned to deliver the solutions needed to make the IIoT a reality.”

Red Lion outlined the tenets of their new initiative in three points...

  • Extend equipment lifespan: increase the value of legacy equipment with powerful protocol conversion
  • Improve process visibility: gain insight and drive productivity with data logging and communication capabilities
  • Push control to the edge: scale systems management with control capabilities at the device instead of the central office
