Meet… Joe Alberts! Joe is a Business Development Specialist with Standard Electric. He works out of our Appleton, WI location. Get to know Joe!
What is your role and what do you specialize in?
I am in the Business Development Role for our Schneider Electric Products. I specialize in understanding how and where Schneider Electric Products are used and help our sales team win opportunities.
How did you become interested in Engineering?
I have always been interested in how things are made. I like seeing all the different types of manufacturing processes and machines that are utilized to make everyday products for consumers.
What attracted you to this industry?
After spending the first part of my career at Kimberly Clark as a process engineer, I decided to take my interests in manufacturing processes and utilize it in a sales environment to expose myself to different types of machines and processes.
What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?
I am a relationship builder. I work to be a resource for customers to help them achieve their goals. I am serviceable and friendly and do everything I can to help the customer.
When you're working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they're facing?
I work to understand the real issues and if I cannot help, I find the experts that can. I don’t try to tackle projects on my own. I think a team, with varying points of view, does the best job of developing an action plan to solve problems.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while working for the Standard Electric family of companies?
Customer Service is key. Be serviceable for your customers.
What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?
I am an active person. I like weight lifting, biking, hiking and some running. My wife and I love camping (Glamping). I am a huge Packer fan and just a huge sports fan in general.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
As big as a Packer fan I am, if I had to choose between giving up my Packer Season Tickets and my Fox Cities PAC season tickets, I would probably give up the Packer tickets first. First, the fans at the PAC are more considerate than at a Packer game. And, I never leave the PAC disappointed or unhappy. Every show I have ever been to at the PAC is spectacular. Packer games, well sometimes the outcome is not what you want and you leave disappointed or upset. I am hoping I never have to make this decision between the two.
