Meet… Rich Krueger! Rich is the Mod Shop Manager for Customer Solution Enclosures with Standard Electric. He works out of our Sheboygan, WI location. Get to know Rich!
What is your role at Standard Electric and what do you specialize in?
My role at Standard Electric is Mod Shop Manager/Customer Solution Enclosures. With my 20 years of knowledge and experience working with the enclosure lines, I also work closely with the Engineering Team as an Application Specialist.
How did you become interested in Engineering?
My interest in engineering is on the mechanical side which comes from my interest in construction and remodeling. I’ve owned 2 homes in my life, and they were both dated when we moved in. My wife picks out the paint, flooring, and fixtures, and I do the construction and installing. I have since helped friends and family with their homes.
What attracted you to this industry?
My interest in Standard Electric, more than just the industry, came from Standard Electric providing the value-added service of enclosure modifications. I’ve been fortunate to have a great team to work with while managing our modification processes and facilities.
What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?
I appreciate the opportunities to listen to our customers who require a unique modification or a particular challenge to their project. As with my remodeling, I can visualize how the finished product may look and have ideas of how to achieve this, and I enjoy working with local machine shops and fabricators to provide a solution.
When you're working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they're facing?
Again, I have a great team of resources to work with, both at Standard Electric and with the shops we’ve fostered relationships with for the past 20 years. As I listen to the challenges our customers face, I start to visualize how we may be able to assist them. I take the ideas I have to our resources and come to a consensus on how best to help the customer.
What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?
Spending time with family and friends:
- Traveling
- Working on home remodeling projects
- Going to sporting events
- Participating in sporting activities
- Downhill skiing
