WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT STANDARD ELECTRIC, AND WHAT DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?
I am a Business Development Specialist for Vision Control & Automation. My primary focus is with ABB Drives and Controls but I also support Red Lion, TE Connectivity as well as other lines.
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN ENGINEERING?
It started many years ago working with my uncle and family friends that played with electronics, thus I built my first intercom system.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THIS INDUSTRY?
I looked for a change in my career as I was in electronic manufacturing prior and the position with Standard Electric offered that change. I can work with many different suppliers and help support them.
WHAT TRAITS DO YOU HAVE THAT HELP YOU IN YOUR ROLE?
Assisting customers and the satisfaction that the customer expectations are met.
WHEN YOU'RE WORKING WITH CLIENTS, HOW DO YOU HELP THEM IDENTIFY AND SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THEY'RE FACING?
Getting the facts and expectations from the customer. Asking questions to make sure I understand what the customer is looking for. Then reviewing possible solutions to make sure the fit is right.
WHAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU'VE LEARNED WHILE WORKING AT STANDARD ELECTRIC?
Who to contact for alternate solutions. There are times my possible solution is not the right fit and bringing in other engineers for their input. It allows us to keep the customer working with us and not look outside Standard Electric for that solution.
WHAT KIND OF THINGS DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Going up to the cabin, fishing, boating. See my grandkids as much as possible. Being they are 2 to 4 hours away; we travel a lot.
WHAT IS AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE CO-WORKERS OR FRIENDS?
I am not sure there are any, I am pretty much an open book.
