Meet… Lee Kobielak!
Lee Kobielak is the Pricing Manager with Standard Electric. He works out of our Appleton, WI location. Get to know Lee!
What's your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? Why?
I am beset by the game of golf. Golf is one of those activities, perhaps only surpassed by skydiving, that allows a person to instantly forget about the stresses of life while simultaneously dosing you with the inevitability of physics. Plus, I get to hit things with sticks.
Who inspires you? Why?
My children (Mady & Roylen). Don’t get me wrong, I have worked for some great leaders in my career and enjoy learning about historic path defining individuals, however, nothing seems to surpass the enthusiasm of a curious child. I lace up to feed their hunger for life.
What are you currently watching on Netflix or some other streaming service?
During the week, the kids dominate the TV.I am making dinner, crossing off “to-dos”, laundry, and then my head hits the pillow. Friday nights are a different story. I get to relive my childhood with 80/90s movies, pizza, and popcorn. From E.T. to Short Circuit to TMNT.
What's the most beautiful "place on earth" you've traveled to and seen?
I enjoy much of what Wisconsin has to offer. I am a sucker for crisp fall colorful days and being by the water. But, if I had to name one place so far, I would have to say Glacier National Park. The pristine clear rippling streams coming off the snow cap mountains feeding the deep sky matching blue lakes is stunning.
What is your personal philosophy? How has this guided you?
My philosophy has always been to take a TRIP…the journey typically secures the end goal.
Timing: Not every moment is the instance to pounce. Research, plan, and trust your gut.
Respect: Cherish your mind & body, be genuine, and cultivate your environment the same.
Intentions: Leave it better than you found it. Justify changes to prevent further burden.
Persistence: Your efforts and concise messaging will minimize your disappointment.
What is the one thing you can’t live without? Why?
Music will always be my first love. I have played percussion drum sets for over 30 years in a variety of bands playing countless types of music. Through that time, I have found there is a song, rhythm, beat and sound for every situation. What is life without a soundtrack?
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was once tasked to save an individual’s life. In the process of saving his fur companions, this person involuntarily under evaluated gravity. I was in my youth then and I rarely think about it. Lucky for him, I had overachieved in my merit badge collection. Gravity won the battle but not the war.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Open a college based around the functionality and operations of a golf course. Learn for free while rotating positions at a functioning public course, club house, and event center. Enrollment based on the desire to find purpose.
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
Selfish answers only:
- Weekly tee time with Bill Murray, Clint Eastwood, and Adam Sandler.
- Be able to transcend space, time, and mind without repercussion (fly on the wall).
- Give the last wish to my wife (I assume she would be giving me a look by then to share).
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric? Why?
The people. It is clear each new introduction at SESCO has been with bona fide contributors. I look forward to supporting their goals.
