Mike Coggins is the Director of Information Technology with Standard Electric Supply Co. He works out of Standard Electric’s Milwaukee, WI location. Get to know Mike!
What's your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? Why?
Golf! I love the challenge of the sport, but also enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Who inspires you? Why?
My parents! Both worked multiple jobs and various shifts throughout my childhood. Doing so instilled various traits, such as hard work and perseverance, which have proven beneficial my entire life.
What are you currently watching on Netflix/streaming service?
The Big Bang Theory, Last Man Standing, and The Americans
What's the most beautiful place you've seen/traveled?
Italy – Especially along the west coast there is a series of fishing villages known as Cinque Terre. The cliffside views are breathtaking and unforgettable.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An Astronaut. When I was younger, my family toured the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Seeing the Space Shuttle up close fueled my interest. Even though I didn’t pursue it as a career, I still follow the various space programs today.
What's the first concert you ever went to?
Candlebox / Collective Soul
What's your favorite TV show - the one you're always watching on repeat?
The Big Bang Theory – I enjoy the humor and idiosyncrasies of the characters; it never gets old.
What is the one thing you can't live without? Why?
Food! Besides the obvious reason of necessity, I often enjoy numerous Wisconsin and American staples such as cheese curds, steaks, ribs, and brats. I also like to experience food from other cultures, such as: German, Peruvian, Italian, Chinese and Indian. In addition to consuming food, I enjoy cooking and often make meals for the family.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
No brainer, retire!
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric?
There are many, including associate empowerment. I enjoy working for a progressive company that places immense emphasis on providing superior customer service to both internal and external customers.
