Meet… Cliff Gronemeyer!
What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
Anything outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, or hiking. The outdoors helps me connect with my soul and recharges my energy.
Ten years ago, are you where you thought you would be now? How is it alike and how different?
I think I am on par with where I expected to be. I enjoy working for a mid-sized company with a good culture where I can make a difference. I was hoping to be living somewhere warm by now, but Chicago is where home is. Maybe someday.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
That is a tough question, because I am a big eater, and a good cook. I would have to say it is not so much always the food, but the environment and situation. Christmas eve meals of gorieyer cheese and linguini with prime rib are always my favorite. A close second is fresh caught walleye after a day on the water.
What are you currently streaming?
I just watched Ozark for the second time to get refreshed for upcoming season four. I just watch Son of Sam… creepy. And I just watched the Hillbilly Elegy. What a great movie.
What is the first concert you attended?
Steve Miller Band at poplar creek in 1982!
What is your personal philosophy and how has it guided you?
My philosophy revolves around having a positive attitude, a beginner’s mindset. Of course, this is very important as a leader, and to approach any situation and challenge with the right attitude. Nobody can take that away from you and it is a choice. I do my best to try to live like that. Life is a lot more pleasant with the right attitude, and success seems to follow you.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
My kids, my dog Auggie, and beer. Sometimes not in that order. They are all very important.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was the mascot for football and basketball at Western Illinois University - aka Rocky the Bulldawg.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
I would buy a hunting farm, about 2000 acres and develop it for a quality deer management program.
Then I’d take care of anyone close to me.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
I would like to meet Warren Buffet. His approach to business and balancing life, along with the fact that he has mentored many successful people in business, would make getting to know him very interesting.
