Meet… Dan Knapp!
What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
I really enjoy golfing. Having played competitive sports my entire life, golf provides an outlet for my competitive spirit! My wife and kids also play which makes for a wonderful family experience.
Who inspires you?
My kids, Connor (11), Kailey (7), and Kelsey (2), inspire me to be a better person and father every day.
What are you currently watching on Netflix/Some other streaming service?
My family and I love to travel out west, specifically to Jackson, Wyoming. For that reason, my wife and I love the show YELLOWSTONE and can’t wait for season 4 to come out.
What is the first concert you attended?
The first concert I ever attended was Counting Crows at the Eagles Ballroom in 1994. I was a freshman in high school and my sister, two years my elder, took me with her friends. I thought I was so cool to attend the concert with a bunch of Juniors!
What is your personal philosophy and how has it guided you?
“Treat others as you would want to be treated” – My parents instilled this in our family at a very young age and I try to live this every day.
“Dream Big” – I learned this from my wife. If you dream it and work hard, anything is possible.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
Sports… I love watching sports and cheering on the local teams. My son Connor has the same passion and we enjoy watching and talking sports with each other.
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric?
I love working for a private, family led company that values fostering a healthy culture over everything. As a sales leader, I am empowered to provide fanatical customer service by knowing that if we make decisions that are in the best interest of the customer, we are doing the right thing.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I am a Civil Engineer by degree and worked for a consultant engineering firm, GREAF, for 11 years. My last project was as a project manager for a new hospital in Charlottesville, VA called Martha Jefferson Hospital.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
I would plan an epic family vacation that would include traveling an entire summer in a RV visiting national parks and golfing at the top courses!
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Why?
Martin Luther King Jr. His passion and leadership in the Civil Rights movement was amazing and inspiring. To spend a day talking and learning from him would have been amazing.
