Meet… Kati Broady!
What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? Why?
I enjoy playing tennis when I have an opportunity. I played collegiate but don’t get a lot of opportunities these days to continue practicing/playing. It’s a great stress reliever and a way to clear my mind. Not to mention, a killer workout!
Ten years ago, are you where you thought you would be now? How is alike and how different?
Definitely not! 10 years ago, I had just recently moved to Wisconsin looking for a new adventure. It was only with luck that I stumbled upon Standard Electric where I took a temp job that, little did I know, would become a career.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I love to cook. Some days are easier and more than others, but generally I enjoy my time in the kitchen making a yummy dinner for the family. I’ve also started to bring my son into the hobby by having him help me cook dinners on Saturdays. It’s a fun new family “tradition”.
Who is your least favorite superhero? Why?
I think I would have to say the Hulk. No reason other than it’s unfortunate that he has to physically change shape to take on his superpower.
What are you currently watching on Netflix/Some other streaming service?
Right now, I have the family obsessively watching old seasons of Survivor. It’s a show the whole family can watch, and I can’t help but get into every season. The culture dynamic and the way people operate is fascinating. I’d make it about 5 hours as a contestant.
What is your personal philosophy? How has this guided you?
“It’s ok to not respond to an email right away.” I think we live in a culture that is based on text rather than conversation and so words matter. I try to be intentional in all my correspondence, so when I’m not ready to adequately convey a message, then I take a step back or better yet, I pick up the phone.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without? Why?
My family, but most importantly my son! He’s the light of my life and the reason I push myself every day.
What is your favorite part of working at Standard Electric? Why?
I love working with our strong management team to discover and look at processes objectively. We’re not afraid to ask the question “why”. Why do we do what we do, and how is it in the best interest of our customers?
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
After I’ve done all the screaming, crying, and more screaming… I would buy myself something that I’ve always wanted and couldn’t afford. I mean, there is plenty of time for the other “logical” stuff, like finances!
What is the one thing, you can’t live without? Why?
Coffee. Because it is my lifeline and keeps me functioning.
