Current sensors detect the current flowing in a conductor and turn it into a signal a controller can read, reporting load without breaking into the circuit to insert a meter. Controls teams add one when a motor's load has to be watched for wear or jamming, when a failed sensor has left a circuit unmonitored, or when a new panel needs load reported back to the PLC.
