Micro switches are miniature snap-action switches that change state on a very small movement and a very light force, which is what lets them be built into machinery as position and limit detection. Machine builders fit one when a mechanism gives too little travel for a full-size switch, when a switch has to fit inside an assembly rather than beside it, or when an OEM build needs a specified operating force.
