I am a Business Development Specialist for sensing, safety and identification products on the Technical Solutions Team.
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN ENGINEERING?
As a kid I was always been interested in how things worked, especially electronics. I liked to disassemble things to see how they came apart, how they worked, and then how to put them back together.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THIS INDUSTRY?
I am fascinated by how things are made, especially the manufacturing processes and the creativity involved. It’s also fun to see things being manufactured so precisely and so quickly.
WHAT TRAITS DO YOU HAVE THAT HELP YOU IN YOUR ROLE?
Problem solving, willingness to learn and research, and being detail-oriented.
WHEN YOU'RE WORKING WITH CLIENTS, HOW DO YOU HELP THEM IDENTIFY AND SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THEY'RE FACING?
The important thing is to listen to the key points and details of the problem and then clarify them. Then brainstorm possible solutions, suggest different approaches, and present new products or technologies that are available.
WHAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU'VE LEARNED WHILE WORKING AT STANDARD ELECTRIC?
There’s always something new to learn, and always someone else in the company that can teach you something. Having the ability to reach out to a large group of well trained and experienced engineers to help solve a customer’s problem is a very powerful tool to have in achieving success and developing effective solutions.
WHAT KIND OF THINGS DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
When not at work, I like to spend time with my family; cooking and barbequing; traveling and fishing.
