Isolation transformers pass power to equipment through magnetic coupling alone, with no direct wire path between input and output, which stops line noise and ground faults from reaching whatever sits downstream. Drive installers pair them when a variable frequency drive is pushing harmonics back onto a shared supply, when a sensitive controller keeps faulting on transients from the same panel, or when a drive install needs its own isolated source to meet the manufacturer's wiring requirement.
